It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the 2021 Scientific Meeting of the Australian Society Gynaecologic Oncologists (ASGO) in Byron Bay, Australia, from the 19th to 23rd May 2021.

 The venue for the meeting is Elements of Byron. Nestled on 50 acres of absolute beachfront, Elements Of Byron features private villas. Each villa features modern beach architecture and interiors inspired by the natural beauty Byron Bay has to offer.

Prof Robert Coleman

Dr. Coleman completed his Obstetrics & Gynecology residency at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, and completed his fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in 1993. Prior to joining the M.D. Anderson faculty in 2004, he served as Vice-Chairman, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. At M.D. Anderson, Dr. Coleman was a Professor and served as the Executive Director for Cancer Network Research, holding the Ann Rife Cox Chair in Gynecology. In March 2020, he joined US Oncology Research as their Chief Scientific Officer.

Dr. Coleman has authored or coauthored over 650 scientific publications, including over 360 peer-reviewed articles, along with numerous book chapters, monographs, invited articles, and textbooks. In 2019, he received the 2019 APGO-CREOG award for Excellence in Teaching. He is a co-Director for GOG-Partners and serves on the Board of Directors for GOG-Foundation, Inc. He currently serves as President of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) and was recently inducted into MJH Life Sciences™ 2020 class of “Giants in Cancer Care®.”

Prof Jessica McAlpine

Dr. Jessica McAlpine is a Gynecologic Oncologist and Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia and BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver, Canada and is the Dr. Chew Wei Memorial Chair in Gynaecologic Oncology. Her research focuses on molecular/genomic characterization of ovarian and endometrial cancers and ovarian cancer prevention. Dr. McAlpine is Director of the OVCARE gynecologic tissue bank.

Fellows' and ASGO Members are invited to submit abstracts. Abstract submission is essential to qualify for the discounted fellow's/trainee's registration rate. Abstracts should be a maximum of 150 words and must be submitted by using the link below no later than midnight (AEST) Friday 12th March 2021.

Tony McCartney Surgical Innovation Prize

Tony McCartney made an enormous contribution to the wellbeing of Australian women suffering from a gynaecologic malignancy. He was an outstanding member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Gynaecologic Oncologists and a true innovator. Tony developed the McCartney Tube and the technique for Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy. This revolutionized the management of women with endometrial cancer and laparoscopic surgery in general.

The Tony McCartney Surgical Innovation Prize will be awarded to an ASGO member or Fellow/Trainee for the best presentation (video or otherwise) describing an innovative surgical technique or procedure.

The ASGO Bowel Resection and Cytoreduction workshop is aimed at CGO Fellows and Gynaecological Oncologist seeking more experience in some cytoreductive techniques.

This is a cadaveric workshop that will cater for eight participants, with a ratio of two per cadaver.

The course will offer hands on practise in cytoreductive surgery with specific attention to upper abdominal and bowel surgery.
